Please be advised that due to recent complaints of excessive speeding in the area of Wabank Rd and Landis Ave, officers have been detailed to conduct extra speed enforcement in this area. In addition to the officer’s presence, we have installed an instrument in the area that utilizes radar to record the speed of passing vehicles which provides us with a detailed traffic study of how many cars pass the instrument, their speeds and time of day. The data obtained from the study allows us to better target when the best times are to have the officers in this area to conduct the traffic enforcement.
The instrument we use is mounted to a utility pole along the side of the street and cannot be blocked by parked cars. You may see temporary “No Parking” signs to prevent parking directly in front of the instrument so that it can collect data. The instrument is normally mounted for a period of 2 weeks to give enough data to review. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause with parking and ask for your cooperation while we work to mitigate the speeding concerns in this area.
